Benefits of synthetic transmission fluid
In
earlier days, simple motor oil was used as lubricants in automatic
transmissions. However, with time, the new age mechanics, there are
automatic transmission fluids which defeats oxidation and can give a
long lasting engine performance.
As a car owner, you might have often wondered about using best full synthetic transmission fluid to
make the car's transmission better. Often petroleum-based fluids are
the first choice but given their expensiveness, people often go for the
synthetic product.
Why would you need it?
- Better resistance to oxidation
A
synthetic product offers better resistance to oxidation than the other
fluids, which improves the overall fuel economy. A synthetic based fluid
is engineered to have more viscosity.
- Resistance to thermal degradation
Some
synthetic lubricants can provide resistance to oxidative degradation in
wider ranges of temperatures while resisting build-up of deposits and
sludge of carbon and varnish.
- Smoother shifting
With its superior engineering to sustain its viscosity in broad temperature range, synthetic fluid makes the shift in vehicles smoother. This eventually protects the transmission components like bearings, gears and more.
- Rust reduction
Standard
transmission fluids can often enhances the effects of rust which can
weaken the gearbox components. Synthetic fluids have the property to
reduce the rust and corrosive effect and thus extend the life of your
vehicle's transmission.

Reason why Synthetic Oil are Preferred

Petroleum-based mineral oils are majorly used in industrial
applications. Being cost-effective and with a reasonable service life, they
have been in use for over decades. However, they have some limitations like the
presence of waxes which can hamper the flow in low temperatures. Moreover, they
can lead to sludge and acid buildup given the poor oxidation stability at a
constant high temperature.
This is where the synthetic base oils prove effective even
though they are expensive than the fuel oil. Royal purple synthetic oil is one of the preferred choices as a
synthetic oil product.
Here’s why it has become a popular option amongst the
vehicle owners.
The engine picks u deposits as the oil circulates.
Conventional oils have the tendency to form sludge overtime which can reduce
the engine's performance. The synthetic oils have lesser impurities and can
better resist the formation of deposits and sludge.
Better flow in low temperature
When a vehicle rests for a while, the oil settles. But when
the engine is set to the ignition point, it starts flowing through the
different parts of the engine to protect against friction. The synthetic oils
are engineered to flow quickly than the conventional oils. So if you are living
in regions with very low temperature, there is no two thought why you should
use the synthetic oil for your car.
·
Works better at higher temperature
Fuels like petrol or diesel can break down or evaporate when
running in very hot regions like deserts. Synthetic oil has no such hang-ups
and can run smoothly in any range of temperature.
·
Better engine wear protection
The convoluted parts within an engine are constantly rubbed
against each other at a very high speed. The motor oil is the only protective
barrier amongst these parts. If you are using conventional oils, the extreme
environments can cause these parts to wear off easily which are not the case
with synthetic oils. They have the superiorly engineered properties which can
retain the wear protection for a longer time.

Are Engine Oils and Tranny Fluids One and the Same?
My old truck was long overdue for an oil change and I finally managed to haul it into the garage. Here the technician suggested that the tranny fluid also called for a change to improve the gear shifting. I was experiencing resistance in the gears meshing and moving. I asked the technician to top off the tranny with engine oil.
The tech was truly taken aback and I laughingly suggested that the two fluids were mostly interchangeable as all they did was lubricate the engine. It took him some long moments to digest my ignorance.
Then he sat me down and told me that while motor oil works on the engine, transmission fluids lubricate the gears and other moving parts in the transmission to keep them moving smoothly!
He told me that the specifications vary greatly. Accordingly, they have different viscosities and even the additives vary a lot.
I am now aware that engine oils and transmission fluids serve specific functions in the vehicle. I asked the tech to recommend the best tranny fluid and he suggested I go for Royal Purple Synchromax transmission fluid.
We sourced the Royal Purple Synchromax transmission fluid from Lucky7trucks.com/ .I could sense the difference from the tranny fluid immediately. The gear noise is gone, the shifting is crisper and the improved power is palpable!
